Police seek information in suspicious death investigation

Coquitlam RCMP are asking anyone who may have information regarding a suspicious death reported on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 to contact investigators.
On Tuesday, April 16, 2024 shortly before 8:00 a.m., Coquitlam RCMP responded to a suspicious death report at a residence on Burns Road near Dominion Avenue in Port Coquitlam. Upon attendance, police located a woman in her late-20’s deceased inside the residence.
During the initial stages of the investigation, Burns Road was temporarily closed between Dominion Avenue and Prairie Avenue in Port Coquitlam.
This file has been assumed by Coquitlam General Investigative Services (GIS), who have notified the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).
This is believed to be an isolated incident, not connected any gang-related conflict. There is no risk to the public.
Until the circumstances that led to the woman’s death can be confirmed, Coquitlam GIS will continue to lead the investigation while liaising with IHIT,
said Media Relations Officer, Corporal Alexa Hodgins. Investigators believe that there are people who may have critical information about this suspicious death and are asking those individuals to contact the Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550.
Coquitlam RCMP remained on scene from Tuesday, April 16, 2024 until Monday, April 22, 2024 as part of the on-going investigation. With the assistance of the Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS), officers executed a search warrant of the residence and property.
