Pedestrian dies in hit and run collision

The North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP is investigating a hit and run collision that claimed the life of a woman. The incident happened on April 18th, 2024, at approximately 9:50 p.m., on Trans Canada Highway, between Green Road and Beverly Avenue.

Emergency crews attended, where they unfortunately found the woman deceased at the scene. The BC Coroners Service attended and confirmed the death.

The suspect vehicle was not located at the scene.

The highway was closed for several hours while forensic evidence was gathered by investigators. The incident is being treated as a fatal hit and run with a motor vehicle.

The deceased has not yet been identified.

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver and vehicle involved. Investigators are also requesting motorists who were in the area between 9 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 18th, 2024, to check their dash cam video.
