Assault with a weapon: man arrested

A Kamloops man has a court date and conditions related to an assault report involving a rock yesterday.

On Wednesday Oct. 9, 2024, at approximately 4:30 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to a commercial location on the 600-block of Seymour Street where a woman was present with an obvious head injury.

According to the investigation so far, the victim was allegedly assaulted with a rock, then made her way from Victoria Street to a business on Seymour Street to request medical assistance, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP Detachment spokesperson. She was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A suspect was located on Fifth Avenue and taken into custody. He was later released on an undertaking. Charge recommendations are anticipated as part of the ongoing investigation.
