BCHP seeking witnesses for unsolved fatal hit-and-run

In the early hours of a holiday long-weekend on Saturday, April 19, 2003, at approximately 3:42 AM, a truck driver located the body of Susan Davidson, a 37-year-old female pedestrian from 100 Mile House. Susan was located in the right lane of the southbound lanes on Highway 97 just south of the junction with Highway 24. Susan had been fatally struck by a vehicle that subsequently fled from the scene.

Police determined that Susan Davidson left a residence in the 94-mile area at approximately 3:15 AM. The truck driver located her at 3:42 AM, approximately 10 km south of 100 Mile House, on Highway 97, and immediately notified the police. Paramedics attended, but tragically, she was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The area where Susan was located was rural, lightly developed area at the time with no street lights. Susan was wearing a dark brown oilskin ankle length coat, similar to an Australian Outback coat.

Highway 97 has always been a busy major traffic corridor. There is someone out there who knows what happened to Susan Davidson on April 19, 2003, said Cpl. Melissa Jongema, BC Highway Patrol Media Relations Officer. BC Highway Patrol is asking that anyone who may have seen Susan walking that night, anyone who has any information about the hit-and-run, or anyone who may have hit something that they thought was an animal that night, to please contact BC Highway Patrol at 250-395-2456 and refer to file 2003-1225.
