Shooting at Gurdwara leads to IHIT deployment

IHIT have deployed to Surrey following a shooting at the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara.

Background:

On June 18, 2023, at 8:27 p.m. the Surrey RCMP received a report of a shooting at the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara at 7050 120 Street, Surrey. Witnesses observed two male suspects running away from the scene. First responding members located a male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside a vehicle. Sadly, the victim succumbed to his injuries on scene. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has now taken conduct of the investigation and is working closely in partnership with the Surrey RCMP, the RCMP Forensic Identification Service and the BC Coroners Service.

Investigators are now identifying the victim as 45-year old, Hardeep Singh Nijjar, in hopes of advancing their investigation.

"We are in the early stages of our investigation. We understand there is a lot of speculation regarding the motive of this homicide, but we are dedicated to learning the facts and letting the evidence lead our investigation." says Sgt. Timothy Pierotti of IHIT. "We are aware that many people were present at the time of the shooting. It's important that investigators speak to each person. Anyone who has yet to speak to police is asked to please contact IHIT immediately."

Déploiement de l'EIEH à la suite d'une fusillade au temple Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara

L'Équipe intégrée des enquêtes sur les homicides (EIEH) a été déployée à Surrey à la suite d'une fusillade survenue au temple Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara.

Contexte :

Le 18 juin 2023, à 20 h 27, le Détachement de la GRC de Surrey a été informé d'une fusillade survenue au temple Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara, situé au 7050, 120e rue, à Surrey. Les premiers membres sur place ont trouvé à l'intérieur d'un véhicule un homme qui souffrait de multiples blessures par balle. Malheureusement, la victime a succombé à ses blessures sur les lieux. L'Équipe intégrée des enquêtes sur les homicides (EIEH) a maintenant pris les rênes de l'enquête et travaille en étroite collaboration avec la GRC de Surrey, le Service de l'identité judiciaire de la GRC et le Bureau des coroners de la Colombie Britannique.

Les enquêteurs ont identifié la victime comme étant Hardeep Singh Nijjar, un homme de 45 ans, et espèrent que cette information permettra de faire avancer l'enquête.

« Nous ne faisons que commencer l'enquête. Nous savons qu'il y a beaucoup d'hypothèses sur le mobile de cet homicide, mais nous sommes déterminés à découvrir les faits et à laisser les éléments de preuve orienter notre enquête », déclare le sergent Timothy Pierotti, de l'EIEH. « De nombreuses personnes étaient sur place au moment de la fusillade. Il est important que les enquêteurs parlent à chacune d'entre elles. Toute personne qui n'a pas encore parlé avec la police est priée de communiquer immédiatement avec l'EIEH. »

L'EIEH demande à toute personne possédant de l'information sur cette enquête ou à toute personne qui possède une caméra-témoin et qui circulait dans l'îlot du 122e rue ou dans le parc de stationnement du Gurdwara, entre 19 h et 20 h 45, le 18 juin d'appeler la ligne d'information de l'EIEH au 1 877 551 IHIT (4448) ou de faire parvenir un courriel à ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.

ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਿੱਖ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਵਿਚ ਗੋਲੀ ਚੱਲਣ ਦੀ ਘਟਨਾ ਤੋ ਬਾਦ ਸਰੀ ਵਿਚ IHIT ਨੇ ਜਾਂਚ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।

ਪਿਛੋਕੜ:

18 ਜੂਨ, 2023 ਨੂੰ, ਰਾਤ 8:27 ਵਜੇ ਸਰੀ RCMP ਨੂੰ 7050 120 ਸਟਰੀਟ, ਸਰੀ ਵਿਖੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਿੱਖ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੋਲੀਬਾਰੀ ਦੀ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਮਿਲੀ। ਗਵਾਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੋ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਸ਼ੱਕੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਘਟਨਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਤੋਂ ਭੱਜਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਦੇਖਿਆ। ਐਮਰਜੰਸੀ ਰਿਸਪੌਂਸ ਟੀਮ ਦੇ ਮੁਢਲੇ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਹਨ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਇੱਕ ਮਰਦ ਨੂੰ ਗੋਲੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਕਈ ਜ਼ਖ਼ਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪੀੜਤ ਪਾਇਆ। ਅਫ਼ਸੋਸ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪੀੜਤ ਨੇ ਮੌਕੇ 'ਤੇ ਹੀ ਦਮ ਤੋੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਇੰਟੈਗਰੇਟਿਡ ਹੋਮੀਸਾਈਡ ਇਨਵੈਸਟੀਗੇਸ਼ਨ ਟੀਮ (IHIT) ਨੇ ਹੁਣ ਜਾਂਚ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਸਰੀ RCMP, RCMP ਫੋਰੈਂਸਿਕ ਆਈਡੈਂਟੀਫਿਕੇਸ਼ਨ ਸਰਵਿਸ ਅਤੇ BC ਕੋਰੋਨਰਜ਼ ਸਰਵਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਭਾਈਵਾਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਨੇੜਿਓਂ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।

ਜਾਂਚਕਰਤਾ ਹੁਣ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਅੱਗੇ ਵਧਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਉਮੀਦ ਨਾਲ ਪੀੜਤ ਦੀ ਪਛਾਣ 45 ਸਾਲਾ ਹਰਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਿੱਝਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।

IHIT ਦੇ Sgt. Timothy Pierotti ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, "ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤੀ ਪੜਾਅ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਾਂ। ਅਸੀਂ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਕਤਲ ਦੇ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਬਾਰੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਅਟਕਲਾਂ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਤੱਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਣ ਅਤੇ ਸਬੂਤਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਡੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਵਚਨਬੱਧ ਹਾਂ। ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸ਼ੂਟਿੰਗ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਸਨ। ਇਹ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਾਂਚਕਰਤਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਨ। ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਅਜੇ ਤੱਕ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਹ IHIT ਨਾਲ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਸੰਪਰਕ ਕਰੇ।"
